Valuing Fine Art, Antiques, Jewellery, Watches and all other collectibles is a core competency within our business. We offer the full range of these services from a simple ‘walk through’ to fully documented and illustrated bound paper valuations.

Valuations for sale at auction are customarily offered free of charge if the items are consigned for sale through us. We also handle valuation for probate, insurance, family division, private treaties and single owner collections.

We conduct valuations for many clients, from private individuals, to solicitors, museums, businesses and beyond. Depending on your collection and location, we can make a visit to your home, but we also encourage you to come and see us at our saleroom where we offer a free walk-in valuation service. Bring pictures if the items is too big to transport. Please ring before you come to make sure someone is available to make the valuation. Hopefully we can help find a few hidden treasures for you! Our regular specialist auctions also mean you will be able to sell the items promptly and also receive the proceeds from sales four weeks post auction.

If you are thinking of selling items or your collection, we offer a single fixed fee commission with no hidden costs. For example there is no lotting fee and no extra charges for photographs. or pre-sale storage. All of our sales are hosted live on the Internet, we find up to 40% of our sales are now to online bidders.

We also have a transportation service available to you if required.

We also understand that this is a sensitive time and also the importance of dealing with the valuation in a fast, considered and professional manner. We recognise that everyone is different and each estate and property we value is unique. Therefore, we compile an inventory of all the items present and produce a bound copy for the estate. Whether you are a private individual or a business our experienced and qualified valuation team will produce a valid insurance certificate should you ever need to use it. Over the years we have produced many insurance valuations. These have been from a single unique object, such as a diamond ring or rare collectable, right through to the complete contents of a Georgian manor house.

For each valuation certificate we provide a description of the item or collections and present this in a bound copy for you to keep for your records. We also hold a copy in our records indefinitely.

We are centrally located in Laois, however, we can travel all across Ireland to ensure we can deliver valuations as quickly as possible for you. Depending on your location and the size of your collection, we will discuss costs and expenses upfront to ensure great value for money.

Probate & Inheritance Tax Valuations

Sean Eacrett offers an efficient, professional and confidential service to executors of deceased estates. On receiving instruction, one or more of our experienced valuers will visit and carry out the valuation, from the contents of a small two up and two down to a country estate.

Sean Eacrett can provide, in duplicate, a full inventory of a contents, usually within seven days of the initial visit. If required, items of value can be removed immediately by our in-house removers and stored for safety. Properties can be cleared, including all items for auction, items of no auctionable value and any personal documentation can be retained, handed back to the executors or destroyed where requested.

Clothing and items of little value can be sorted and donated to charity. We also can help in offering a pet home finding service for the deceased beloved companions, which often can be a problem if the relatives are abroad or have unsuitable accommodation. Any specific bequests can be identified, valued individually and dispersed. All saleable goods not bequested can be removed and placed into an appropriate auction.

Why do you charge for probate and insurance valuations and not auction valuations?
Insurance and probate valuations are charged at an hourly rate of €80 per hour plus vat @ 23%.. The specialist will give a full and detailed report of the items and we will provide two bound copies of your valuation for your records.
